Day 9: Peer Review

Goals: You will be able to...
  • Receive peer feedback on your "diagnostic2" essay.
  • Reflect on comments/suggestions you received through peer review and make further revisions.
Peer Review on Diagnostic Essay Revisions
Sometimes it's difficult to review your own work because you've spent too much time looking at it and that is why we need a peer reviewer.

Step 1: Switch your seats with your peer review partner and give comments using both the review sheet and the file (by typing your comments on the draft).
Step 2: Save the file as "diagnostic2_your partner's name (reviewed by your name)" on the Desktop.
Step 3: Go back to your original seats. Open and read the file your partner saved on your Desktop. Ask questions on anything you don't understand.
Step 4: Upload the file your partner saved on your Desktop in your Dropbox so you can refer to it later for further revision.

Homework: Go through the peer review comments carefully. Don't dismiss them right away if you don't
agree. Think about WHY the reader felt the way that they did. Look also at your strengths and think about
how you can continue to perform well on future essays.

Make necessary changes on your essay and submit it as "diagnostic3_your first name" by 11:59 pm
Thursday, Sept 20.  At the end of your essay, add one or two paragraph(s) describing how you (the writer)
changed your paper as a result of the peer review. Be specific, give examples. This part, reflection on
your peer review experience, and your actual revision based on the peer review will count for 10% of your
diagnostic essay grade.
