Topic: The topic should be the same as one of the topics you wrote for the 4 patterns of organization.
Type of Assignment: 5-paragraph essay, using one of the 4 patterns of organization (Compare/Contrast, Cause/Effect, Definition, or Process)
Task: Students should choose one of the 4 patterns of organization and write an essay on the same topic, expanding one of their paragraphs into a full essay. The final draft should use quoting and paraphrasing in this unit while successfully integrating at least two sources.
Formatting: Essays should be 2-3 pages, with a title. Times New Roman, Size 12, Double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides. (Paper size: 8 1/2 x 11-inches)
Sources: At least two academic sources must be used in this essay (one of them should be the article provided by me).
Plagiarism: APA in-text and reference page citations should be used, along with effective paraphrasing. Because avoiding plagiarism topics are explicitly taught in this unit, there should be serious consequences to both intentional and unintentional plagiarism. Students will look to instructors from this essay to see if they are correctly avoiding plagiarism, or to see how much plagiarism they can get away with.
