- Review & Intro: How to Incorporate an Opposing Argument I
Task 1: Read sample essay 1, essay 2, and essay 3 and do the following:
- Number all paragraphs 1, 2, 3...
- Underline Thesis statement and write "TS" next to it
- Underline all topic sentences and write either "Opposing arguments" (if the topic sentence represents the opponents' views) or "Supporting arguments" (if the topic sentence represents the author's view)
- Ex) TS: Dropbox is beneficial for ESL classes for submitting homework.
- Ex) Topic sentence 1: People often argue that e-mails are the best ways to submit homework. -> OA
- Ex)opic sentence 2: Dropbox is helpful for exchanging comments. -> SA
- Find the author's attack (challenge) on the OA (Opposing Arguments) and write "Refutation"

Task 3: Evaluate all pieces of evidence in essay 1, 2, and 3 and find those that you think is too weak (not convincing or reliable) and come up with reasons why.
Reflection 2: Reflect on my comments and grading rubric on your Essay 2. Compare them with what you received from Diagnostic essay. In which area do you think you have improved? Which area still needs improvement? Write down your thoughts in 300 words minimum. Name it as "Reflection 2" and put it in Unit 2 folder of your Dropbox. This is due this Friday, Nov 9
